Barley grass itself is naturally gluten free. However, the seed that the grass is grown from naturally contains gluten. Barley grass can be contaminated during the harvesting process, and therefore contain traces of gluten. Because of this, to protect those who are coeliac, we choose to declare the product as containing gluten, no matter that it might only be traces of gluten.
